moments that haven't yet been defined

apparently I did not get the memo. thank goodness sarah's flickr shot for 2.24.08 alerted me to this joyful, seasonal event... i'm talking girl scout cookies:

carmel delights (or samoas as they now call them) are my favorite followed shortly by peanut butter patties (aka tag-a-longs). as well as thin mints and those lemon sandwich ones...

weekend mission?
find a girl scout sale. buy cookies. lots.
eat. lots.
:)

lemme hear you say

I don't do Valentine's Day.

Not like other girls who say they don't want anything but then expect roses. No, instead when I found a card and 2 wrapped boxes of Mike & Ikes and Hot Tamales, I almost yelled at Scott. (Yes, for that).
I find everything about it cheesy and not at all amusing and I most surely do not want baby's breath or mall jewelry in a little robin's egg blue box. (I swear I don't try to be so jaded)

Therefore I have no V-day stories or pictures. BUT, I did make a little Flickr fav mosaic that looks surprisingly Valentine's-esque to me:

1. pink's hotdog stand, 2. Lick, 3. Greenwich Village Skyline, 4. 13/366 pineapple, 5. neon sex shop sign, 6. zigzaggy, 7. Time Is On My Side, 8. 2008-01-12-holga-017, 9. abandoned, 10. hp_scanDS_77101733433, 11. 37 Ross Alley, 12. union square, 13. red nails, 14. two views fom the hotel, 15. tournament of roses, 16. 07/02/2007

reds, pinks, day of the dead couple, flowers... i see it <3

Two new shows on TV feature a group of high-powered, sexy, fashionable friends in New York City: Cashmere Mafia and Lipstick Jungle.

Obviously, right there is a Sex and The City similarity but that isn't the only reason the shows have been compared to it- the executive producer of Mafia is Darren Star, who helped transform Candace Bushnell's newspaper column into the TV show, SaTC. On the other side, Bushnell herself executive producers Jungle.

I checked them both out and I gotta say I like Cashmere Mafia quite a bit and Lipstick Jungle not at all. I'm not totally hooked, with the need to tune in every week, but Mafia cute and clever. And while SaTC was known for the fashions portrayed (and yes, Mafia tries hard to follow in suit), what I'm really searching for screencaps of the episodes for is interior design. Seriously, I love the look of the the home of Zoe (Frances O'Connor) and the ladies' offices.

As for Lipstick Jungle, the characters are unconvincing to me, far less strong than the successful women they are supposed to portray and the level of style and pizazz just doesn't measure up. I won't be tuning in again...
LA Weekly has an awesome article comparing the 2 shows and echoes my feelings as welll: Lipstick Jungle vs Cashmere Mafia: Battle of the Fashionista Working Gals by Robert Abele. Anyone else tuned in? Your thoughts? ;)

screaming in silent black and white

So yes, many of you caught on to my comment about Picture of the Day being much harder now that I'm working. ;) Yup, I'm back to work. Wo-hooooo!

I don't like to share too much about my work life because I don't think it is appropriate on a blog, but the basics are that I left BCBG Max Azria Group Inc's Marketing Department last year. I knew it was time to move on and move forward. After a few months of downtime and job searching, I started up again weeks ago. I'm happy to report I found a great Marketing position with an exciting company and I'm just in a really good place in my life and career.

And that, I think, is 'nuff said. :)

if they could bar wars

I'm really, really into interior design these days (yeah, I know... my blog needs some variation)...
and it's time my apartment (house soon I hope!) is not a mish-mosh of childhood and college leftovers...
and my scrapbook stuff is just begging to be tucked away out of sight and out of Target cubes...
and I'm thinking that this looks juuuuust riiiiiiight:

-Now: Tucked under our wall of windows in the home office.
-Later: Possibly moved to a different wall and thus becoming home to stacked books, cool frames and vases or a big framed artwork piece resting on the top.
-Much Later: Being moved to a den as a media console or a baby's room (I'm talking MUCH later) as a dresser

I want. I want. I want.

ETA: Now here's the question: is it worth $400 (plus more for delivery) than this IKEA locker-like console???:
Hmmm, I'm still thinking yes... Buy the stuff you really love. The first isn't that expensive anyways. The locker look isn't as nice. Thoughts...?

I have a new fashion muse: Ally Hilfiger.

You may recognize her as Tommy Hilfiger's daughter and from the MTV show, "Rich Girls" from years ago. I'll forgive her for that show because let's be honest- if my 17-year-old self was broad casted to a national audience, I'd never have come out of hiding.
She's got a great chic and edgy look. I usually don't follow the style of small girls because those looks just don't translate on my tall self, but I definitely have her on my radar now.

-relaxing 'round the house
-gifts
[missions # 1-4 accomplished!]
-early dinner @ El Coyote [his fav, not mine...]
-improv show @ Upright Citizens Brigade

a tight-rope style fine line

my picture @ S/S '08 shows, diagram from indexed.blogspot.com :)

I'm not at Fashion Week this season (a tiny bit of 'bummer' and a hell of a whole lot of 'thank god i'm not!") but I still love following along with Style.com and even better, the GoFugYourself girls on New York Magazine's site. They do a great recap of trends, celebs, parties and all hilariously! Check it here.

i ain't superstitious

brain-dead thoughts:

1. so today was my first day as an employed woman in 2008. i realized this Picture of the Day thing isn't gonna be so easy anymore...
2. needing more formal, conservative, corporate-ish work clothing + loving fashion + being 24 = not fun. starting out in the fashion industry spoiled me there.
3. beer margaritas. possible fun for superbowl or summertime. think they are any good?
4. in case you didn't take my recommendation 6 months ago: rent King of Kong
5. in case you didn't take my recommendation 1 week ago: read The Omnivore's Dilemma
6. reason # 263 why lisa mcg is my favorite scrapbooker: dude, she rocked Shepard Fairey.
